ive been using a cane since i was 12 (EDS) and only recently decided to take the leap and try something new to relieve the stress my cane had been putting on my wrist. now i use a single smartcrutch in a platform position and ive had it about 2 weeks now and it has been probably the best decision ive ever made. theres definitely a learning curve and its a bit heavier than my cane was, but im able to lean against it and support myself on it even standing still without knowing i might make my wrist joint slip or something.
Still getting used to the height of it, and ive been making a lot of minor adjustments each day depending on what is hurting most for me- highly recommend, great for the price as well
I have Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos syndrome and struggle with gaining endurance when walking daily due to poor proprioception, balance, and frequent injuries. I began using my poles nine months ago after an episode of severe fatigue and was shocked how much longer I could walk the first time with them than without them. There were days that I dreaded walking or simply didn't walk because of dizziness or fatigue, but now I know I have the support I need to keep moving and build strength and endurance.
