Many doctors agree that Nordic walking is one of the most effective cardiovascular workouts because it works all major muscle groups in the body. Recent studies by the Cooper Institute, Dallas, showed that Nordic walking burned more calories, increased oxygen consumption, and can be up to 46% more efficient than normal walking. Nordic walking is also great for weight loss. By using the Nordic walking poles, you increase your heart rate on average 10-15% more than normal walking. This means you can burn well over 400 calories per hour, much more than normal walking, which only burns approximately 280. An additional energy consumption of 1500-2000 calories a week while doing physical activities reduces your risk of getting sick. You can achieve this by walking with your poles approximately 3 hours every week. Nordic walking offers more health benefits than regular walking, jogging, biking or running

Here is a quick how to on calibrating the flip lock so it has enough "snap"... simply open the blue flip lock, righty tighty the hand tighten knob about 1/4 turn, then close the flip lock. It should have a little "snap" sound, but not too much because you don't want to break it.

Which tips should I buy?
We have a variety of tips available that can be swapped out depending on the type of walking you will be doing. The following is additional detail on each type to help you determine what is best for your needs. SEE VIDEO BELOW
Trekking Grip Wrist Strap - How to Adjust and Keep Tight
Two Section Poles With Trek Grip:
If your trek grip wrist strap is loosening, we recommend ensuring that the little plastic "wedge" is pressed in. By pressing the wedge in, it will hold the wrist strap in place. When pulling the short tab to adjust the wrist strap length, the wedge is displaced slightly allowing the strap to slide to a larger/smaller length. After you have your desired length, be sure to press the wedge back into the grip to hold the desired wrist strap length.
When wrist strap is at an upward angle the tab can be easily pulled in and out by dislodging the plastic wedge. When the wrist strap is at a downward angle the strap is tight and will not slip.
Folding Travel Poles with Trek Grip:
When wrist strap is at an upward angle the tab can be easily pulled in and out. When the wrist strap is at a downward angle the strap is tight and will not slip.
Will rubber tips fit my poles?
UNIVERSAL: York Nordic brand rubber tips will fit most standard brands of nordic walking, trekking, walking, or hiking poles (1cm/.4in opening) - does not work with Black Diamond Z Poles or any walking poles with the very narrow "ski pole" like end that is not tapered. Your tips should look similar to the tapered standard walking pole tip below for your poles to work with our rubber tips.
If our tips do not fit your poles or have a loose fit, an easy work around is to do a single or double wrap with painters tape, sport tape, or even duct tape... creates a narrow "shim" so the rubber tips have something to grab onto. The video below is helpful, but of course please feel welcome to reach out to customer service as need.

How to Keep Folding Sections Tight
• Gently pull apart the sections of pole
• Find the light blue or yellow expander, it has slits in it and should spin freely
• When the expander is engaged and its slits are entwined with the raised channels on the black piece above, a turning motion will make the blue expander “petals” open up like a flower, this is what keeps the poles in place
• It sounds like the expander might not be engaging with the black piece, so spin it making sure it is free and ready to engage with the black piece aboe
• Also, ensure that the black bungee cord is not “coiled” up like old style phone cords or a garden hose, ensure that the black bungee is “unwound” so it can wind up when twisted to the right, therefore, expanding the petals of the expander

Package Did Not Arrive or Stolen Package
STEP #1
- Use your tracking # to ensure your package is not delayed or misplaced. Oftentimes packages are placed in a new location or even delivered to a neighbor... it happens. Please check all entrances to your home or apartment, check with the front desk of your building, and check with neighbors.
STEP #2 - File a Police Report by Calling or Online
- If your package did not arrive, we require you to file a police report before working with you on refunding or replacing your order.
- Filing a report will let the police know that package theft is a problem in your area, making it more likely that the police can catch the current offender and prevent future theft.
- Find the non-emergency number for your local police department. Of course, the exact number will vary depending on where you live, but you should be able to find it quickly enough through a simple Google search.
- Many police departments provide ways to file a police report online conveniently. The individual URL will again vary depending on your location, a Google search of your town/city plus “online police report” will turn up the place to report your stolen package. Select the type of crime that has occurred and provide details, including all information about the theft, and stick to the facts, as filing a false report is a crime.
STEP #3
- Provide a copy of your police report to support@yorknordic.com, and we will proceed with the next steps on your refund or replacement.

UPS Delivery
UPS normally does a great job delivering our products, however there are cases of course where they confirm delivery and the item was actually received by a neighbor or placed in an area where customers don't normally look.
The first step is to check with neighbors and check any new or different places where the package might have been delivered. The next step would be for you to reach out to UPS to place a claim if UPS has confirmed delivery. You can place a claim at https://www.ups.com/us/en/support/file-a-claim.page? Once your UPS claim with supporting documentation has been issued, processing takes on average 8-15 business days. Claims that have been approved and payment paperwork has been provided, processing generally takes between 3-5 days.
Additionally, you may contact UPS customer support at 800-742-5877
UPS - how to change my delivery address

Once you are on the tracking page for your shipment, look towards the bottom of the page and click on the "Change My Delivery" button.
