Big and tall walking sticks

The walking sticks are great. They are both strong and light.
My only complaint is about the "tall and big" grips. I'm 6'4" and have fairly large hands but the palm edge ledges on these are too low relative to the finger grooves and thumb rests.
They are quite usable but I am constantly reminded of a less than comfortable grasp.
I recommend an option to change the grips.
Thank you for a very good product overall.

Keeps me moving!

I have severe scoliosis and these poles are so comfortable and supportive - they really help me keep moving! I have used regular trekking poles in the past, but I would get hand fatigue and sometimes even numbness in my hands. I have used a cane in the past, but I would get both hand and shoulder pain with a cane. The York Nordic Motivator poles have solved both of these issues. I highly recommend them. I also strongly recommend getting a FlexTip base with a spring as for the added shock absorption and a longer life for the tips - the typical rubber tips don't last long if you walk a lot. Thank you for developing these poles!

Thrilled you love them!

These trekking poles are sturdy and have fun designs. The handles are very comfortable and provide great support for balance on uneven surfaces or on even surfaces if you have balance problems. The only downside is that if you are using them in a therapy clinic to trial for patients, adjusting the height is not simple and it takes time to get both sides even. For that purpose, button settings would be easier. But if you are purchasing for a single person use, then once they are adjusted for the height, they stay put.

Lightweight yet sturdy

I bought these motivator poles to every-day use at home to keep my gait correct and reduce stress on my joints. I already have a pair of the folding ones for travel. My wrists thank me for using poles with the grips these have that let my wrist rest and my thumb stay in a position that reduces stress on my hand and wrist. My physical therapist is quite impressed with my poles. And I get compliments on the appearance of my poles!

Love them!

I had a comibnation ear infection (which threw me off balance compltely) and an emotional shock which stopped me in my tracks (literally).

These poles have set me back on course. Only three days in but I'm moving again. Love them!

Hand grips

I have had other really nice walking poles, but the handgrips for the York Nordic poles are a real game changer. I’m taking these on vacation!

Gets me outside

The poles are adjustable to just the right height. They are sturdy enough to stop, lean, and rest (and I’m a big person). Customer service was quick and helpful. Would recommend.

Posture, balance, and mobility.

These walking poles are exceptional. After spine surgery, and then some complications, these walking poles are a godsend. Using them encourages me to be mindful of my posture and more confident with balance while building endurance. I particularly like the contoured hand rests that enhance my comfort while gaining my stride.

Motivator poles first time used for 10 days in Ireland

I have had pain in my left hip for many years that kicks in after walking any distance. I am 75 years old, 5'1 and carry an extra 100 lbs. Looking at a family trip to Ireland where I knew my athletic children would we walking everywhere and planned to hike in the mountains as well. I was worried about keeping up and not destroying our family vacation with them worring about me.
I knew I needed something to stablize my gait to keep me leaning toward that bad hip as it brought pain I would favor leaning toward it. The leaning just makes it worse but hard to pull up straight to continue walking if in pain. I purchased your Motivator poles hoping for the stability stated in your website and so very, very glad I did this. I did not use them to walk prior to trip as I was ill for many weeks prior except to try them out with my son along his driveway. I first really used them leaving the car at the airport and walking through the terminal to check in and to the flight which was more walking than I've done in a long time. Over the 10 day trip I was able to walk 2 1/2-3/4 miles on first 2 days, 3 to 4+ miles for 7 days and one day went over 5 miles - this was total miles spread out over a day not consistant walking. What a blessing to find these wonderful poles and bring back a life I use to enjoy. Thank you the designed handles are so comfortable in all sorts of terrain we covered on our 10 days through Ireland, they were light weight, never had any issues in hands or shoulders from the constant movement. My sons use poles hiking mountain trails and told me to start out changing the way I moved the poles sometimes both at same time walking toward them but to mix it up just a bit when I first began using them to keep from using same muscle area by mixing up a bit now and then. I think that helped in the beginning but once I was comfortable after a few days I stopped mixing as I became more comfortable with the poles.
Going up and down stairs - if few could use poles. If many steps I could grab hand rail with right hand and give one to husband or hold both poles on occassion in left hand to have balance on the left side. You just have to use your judgement on how you feel but keep using them off and on throughout your day. I was just sitting most of the day getting in steps around the house or when I went to the grocery store as a shopping cart gave me same stability. I had limited other store shopping to online over the years. The motivator poles are life saving for me and plan to use them daily from now on. Hope this review helps someone else.
The staff and service are wonderful at York Nordic as I ordered the extra small size at first based on my height in error, not arm distance to the floor finding the poles too short and needed exchange for the small. They worked with me on the new purchase and exchange and were very professional and helpful to receive them in time before I left for Ireland.

We are thrilled you found them as useful as we do!

Wonderful

This is my 1st time feeling my balanced after surgery. Also grounded again. Planning my 1st trip in years, walking sticks make this possible. Very happy with this product.

Best I’ve ever had

I’ve been using these poles for a few weeks now while rehabbing from surgery and I am blown away by the quality. The shaped handles are fantastic (though quite large on this model — intended for larger hands). The design, materials and finish are all top-notch. You’ll know the moment you pick one up in your hand that this is a heavier, higher-quality, more durable walking stick than you’ve ever used.

About time there is a pole I can use!

It's about time someone made a pole for some of us bigger guys. I am big and tall and haven't been able to find walking poles that will handle my height and weight. These are perfect for me!

Perfect Walking Pole for Bigger Adults

I'm 6'5" with big hands and also have RA and some upper back arthritis. First, these poles are an instantly more comfortable for walking than using a cane! It's easy to keep my head and back upright and the stability of the poles is really great. They weight about 5 ounces more than standard poles, and I definitely feel more stable while I'm using them. The push button height adjustment is very easy to use, too. The palm cradle gives an extra level of comfort while in use. I'm absolutely sold on these poles, and if you're over 6'4" and/or have very large hands, you'll need to try these out. You'll be impressed, too.

Shockingly Helpful

I have Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos syndrome and struggle with gaining endurance when walking daily due to poor proprioception, balance, and frequent injuries. I began using my poles nine months ago after an episode of severe fatigue and was shocked how much longer I could walk the first time with them than without them. There were days that I dreaded walking or simply didn't walk because of dizziness or fatigue, but now I know I have the support I need to keep moving and build strength and endurance. My PT loves these poles and helps me focus on proper form with the poles, so that frequent injuries that come with my condition don't get me down. Motivator is the perfect name ! Hugs and high fives to your team for creating a fabulous tool. And I love my Zebra sticker so that I can create conversations around what's working.

Great gift!

I purchased this as a gift for my mom, who has recently been trying out nordic walking. She is thrilled, and reported that it was easy to adjust the poles to the right height. Shipping was quick and easy. Very pleased!

Best support walking poles. They are light weight and very sturdy and strong. The handles are very safe. The bottom of the poles are great for walking on your daily routes.
Five Star Rating.

I think the design of the hand piece and the sturdiness of the poles is great for patients with gait instability and for hiking.

Nordic walking stick

Sturdy and beautiful. I bought it because the one I got is not foldable but this one doesn't fold enough to fit in my large suitcase. So minus one star.
