Over the years York Nordic has been fortunate to collaborate with walking groups and physical care providers on the benefits of walking and walking poles for health and rehab. A year ago we were extra fortunate to partner with the Cape Cod Nordic Walking Club (CCNW) and founder Carla Fogaren to develop a special CCNW walking pole with its own unique “Dunes of the Cape Design”. Carla, pictured above, founded the Club two years ago and has already reached almost 2,800 members, an amazing accomplishment. It is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers.
Carla, along with her two exceptional group administrators, and dedicated board members, Sue Moynihan and Brenda Brown have successfully expanded the group while fostering a strong sense of community. Additionally, the Club has trained 28 hosts who lead walks, 50 sweeps who ensure no one is left behind, and ten certified instructors. In addition to being a master-certified instructor, Carla is an accomplished registered nurse who ventured out in 2022 to found CCNW and consult. An amazing person!
As part of our partnership, from every purchase of the Dunes of the Cape poles York Nordic is pleased to donate $10 to the Cape Cod Nordic Walking Club to help support the Club and its efforts to introduce people to the art of Nordic Walking and encourage them to explore the scenic trails and beaches of beautiful Cape Cod.
While thrilled with the response to the pole design, we are more excited that we have been able to donate back to the Club in the past year because of people’s interest in Nordic walking and the opportunity to support the Club. York Nordic has always promoted the health benefits of walking, and Nordic walking in particular. Both have been shown to help improve cardiovascular fitness, lower blood pressure and reduce risk of heart disease. Walking poles can provide a great assist in a walking routine by helping with posture, gait and overall balance and stability. We could not be more pleased that our CCNW partnership is helping to drive this message! Let’s Get Out There!
